New Delhi: The government on Wednesday withdrew the order to mobile manufacturers to pre-install cybersecurity app ‘Sanchar Saathi’ on smartphones.
The Department of Telecom said that after a 10-fold increase in voluntary app downloads in just a day, they are removing the order making the installation of ‘Sanchar Saathi’ app mandatory. “The number of users is increasing rapidly and the order to install the app was to speed up the process and make the app easily available to less aware citizens,” the Department of Telecom said in a statement.
