Patiala- Following the orders of Dr. Balvir Singh, Health Minister, Punjab, and as per the directions of Deputy Commissioner Patiala Dr. Preeti Yadav and Medical Superintendent Dr. Vishal Chopra, Government Nursing College, Rajindra Hospital Patiala is being honored as the first such college in Punjab. All the students of which are undergoing training and practice in disaster management, first aid, CPR, fire safety, use of cylinders.
The students of this college will now get trained youth ready to protect, rescue, and help the victims of natural and human disasters, wars, domestic incidents, heart attacks, cardiac arrests, unconsciousness, fires, gas leaks, and electric shocks in the country and abroad as the helping angels of the victims.
Giving this information, the Principal of the college, Dr. Balwinder Kaur said that following the orders of the Punjab Government, District Administration and Health Department, they have organized a three-day camp for their students to get training on relevant disaster management, civil defense, first aid, fire safety subjects through the Government of India's Disaster Management, Civil Defense, First Aid, Fire Safety (experts in each field), trainer Mr. Kaka Ram Verma, to save victims during disasters, wars, domestic and commercial establishments, road accidents, rescue, transport, first aid, CPR, recovery position, ventilator artificial respiration, use of bandages, as well as to save precious lives and properties during wars, floods, earthquakes, fires, gas leaks, electric short circuits.
He said that 112 students are being trained in this third three-day camp. Shri Kaka Ram Verma, Retired Training Supervisor Red Cross Society, while expressing his gratitude, said that they have been training the students of the Nursing College on disaster management, civil defense, first aid, CPR, fire safety, use of cylinders, rescue of victims, transportation and disaster management by forming 10 types of teams and conducting mock drills.
Last year, they had also trained all the students of Government Medical College Patiala on first aid, CPR, recovery position, ventilator, artificial respiration, care of the injured and use of fire safety cylinders. The participating students are being encouraged to help the victims by giving certificates.
Because during future disasters, wars and accidents, only those people can survive or save the victims who have already been trained and practiced in disaster management, civil defense, first aid, and fire safety methods at educational institutions.
