Patna:- The scope of flooding in Bihar continues to expand, with the number of affected people crossing 4.7 million. In 15 districts, 88 blocks and 561 panchayats of the state, 4.7 million people have been affected by the floods. Meanwhile, along with intensifying relief and rescue operations in the affected areas, the challenge of ensuring the availability of food grains, fodder for livestock, medicines and other essential supplies is also increasing. The difficulties faced by people continue due to the Ganga, Gandak, Kosi and Son rivers.
The number of community kitchens for flood-affected people has been increased to 1,194. Through these kitchens, around 5.2 million people are being provided meals twice a day. The government has directed district officials to ensure that no affected family faces a shortage of food. The Disaster Management Department has also asked for the number of community kitchens to be increased further.
