Ratia, August 1: A delegation from the Model Town Residents' Welfare Association, led by President Satpal Mangla, met Ratia MLA S. Jarnail Singh at his residence and submitted two separate memoranda regarding the fundamental issues facing Model Town. The delegation first expressed gratitude to the MLA for prominently raising the voice of Model Town residents in the Legislative Assembly.
The first memorandum highlighted the dilapidated condition and lack of basic amenities in the five parks located in Model Town. Delegation members—including Sanjay Modi, Vinod Jain, Ashok Garg, Ramkumar Mehta, Suresh Mangla, Prem Basal, Amit Goyal, and Vicky Singla—pointed out that while hundreds of citizens, children, and the elderly visit these parks daily for walks and recreation, the lack of maintenance over a long period has led to a deeply concerning state of affairs.
The main gates of Park No. 1 (Anand Park) and Park No. 4 (Agrasen Park) have completely collapsed, raising serious safety concerns. Swings in all the parks are broken, and benches are dilapidated and unusable. The greenery is withering due to the absence of irrigation pipelines. Footpaths are damaged in several places, and the boundary walls are low with peeling plaster. The lack of dustbins has led to scattered litter, and the parks have lost their aesthetic appeal due to a lack of painting and upkeep for years. Most streetlights are non-functional, creating an atmosphere of darkness and insecurity in the parks as soon as evening falls.
The Association stated that these factors are compromising the cleanliness, beauty, and safety of the parks, causing significant inconvenience, particularly to women, children, and the elderly.
The second memorandum demanded a permanent solution to the long-standing sewerage and drinking water issues in Model Town. The Association stated that, thanks to your efforts, the district administration had previously assured a permanent solution; however, no concrete action has been taken to date. Consequently, residents of the area continue to suffer from issues such as clogged sewers, wastewater drainage problems, and a shortage of drinking water. A copy of the minutes from the coordination meeting held on January 2, 2025, under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner of Fatehabad, has been enclosed with the letter. A copy of this letter has also been forwarded to the Deputy Commissioner of Fatehabad.
The Association respectfully requested the MLA to coordinate with the concerned departments and the district administration to ensure prompt and effective action on these two issues of public interest, thereby enabling the residents of Model Town to access clean, safe, and appealing amenities.
On this occasion, MLA S. Jarnail Singh listened attentively to the delegation and, taking cognizance of both representations, assured them that the problems facing Model Town would be resolved soon.
