Karnal, April 13: The CIA-3 team of the Karnal District Police, under the leadership of In-charge Inspector Ajay Singh, has successfully arrested two accused members of a gang involved in defrauding jewelers by exchanging fake gold. Providing details regarding this matter during a press conference, DSP Rajiv Kumar stated that the complainant, Yatin Goyal—who owns a showroom named 'OPS Jewelry House' on Kunjpura Road, Karnal—had filed a complaint with the police.
According to the complaint, over the past few days, certain individuals had been visiting his showroom to purchase gold ornaments, offering old gold in exchange. After a series of such transactions, the jeweler grew suspicious; upon having the submitted gold examined, it was found to be counterfeit. Based on this, Case FIR No. 218 was registered at the City Police Station, Karnal, on April 7, 2026, under Sections 303, 316(2), 318(4), 317(2), and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Acting on credible intelligence, the police team apprehended the two accused members of the gang on April 8, 2026, from Meerut Road, Karnal. The arrested individuals have been identified as Khushi Arora (daughter of Sarvpal Singh) and Sarvpal Singh (son of Prithi Pal Singh), residents of Nilothi Extension, Nangloi, West Delhi (currently residing in Omax City, Bahadurgarh, District Jhajjar).
A total of 56 grams of gold was recovered from the possession of the accused. These individuals specialized in defrauding jewelers by exchanging fake gold ornaments for genuine gold jewelry and cash. The police produced both accused individuals before a court, from where Sarvpal Singh was taken into police remand for four days.
During interrogation, it was revealed that more than 50 criminal cases are already registered against him. Upon the expiration of the remand period, the accused was once again produced before the court and has subsequently been sent to judicial custody. Further investigation by the police is underway to arrest the other accused in the case.
