Karnal, July 14: A tragic incident late Monday night at Raas Residency has shaken the entire area. According to the police, a father jumped from the second floor in pursuit of his son in a desperate attempt to save him. The father, Sukhwant Singh, died on the spot, while his son, Harvinder Singh, sustained critical injuries. Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene, took possession of the body, and sent it for a post-mortem examination.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 2:00 AM. Preliminary investigations revealed that Sukhwant Singh and his son, Harvinder Singh, were consuming alcohol in their flat. During this time, Harvinder allegedly spoke of committing suicide and ran towards the edge to jump from the second floor. In an attempt to stop his son, the father also jumped after him. Sukhwant Singh died instantly upon impact, while Harvinder was critically injured.
Alerted by Harvinder's cries, neighbors rushed to the scene and immediately informed the family and the police. The injured man was taken to the hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Jagdish Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO) of the Sector 32-33 police station, stated that the incident appears to have occurred while the individuals were under the influence of alcohol. The police are investigating the matter from all angles. Further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report and other evidence.
