SAS Nagar, July 9, 2025 — In a major crackdown on espionage, the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) of Punjab Police has arrested Gurpreet Singh alias Guri alias Fauji, a former Army man, for leaking sensitive Indian military information to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
According to Ravjot Kaur Grewal, IPS, AIG, SSOC, Gurpreet Singh, a resident of village Mattar Uttar in Ferozepur district, was already in Ferozepur Jail after being arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau, Amritsar, in April 2025 with 1 kg of heroin. While in custody, he came in contact with Pakistan-based ISI operatives and used his Army background and contacts to gather and transmit classified military information — including Indian Army deployments, operational strategies, and sensitive weaponry details.
He was brought to SSOC, SAS Nagar on a production warrant, where he confessed during sustained interrogation. He had previously served in sensitive border areas such as Jammu & Kashmir and Sikkim during his Army tenure.
An FIR No. 10 dated 04.06.2024 has been registered at Police Station SSOC, SAS Nagar under Sections 152 and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923.
Investigations are ongoing to uncover the extent of the data leak and identify other members of the network. Police officials said this arrest is a major breakthrough in disrupting ISI-backed espionage operations within Indian borders.
