Nawanshahr - Local social service organization Upkar Coordination Society has demanded that educational institutions, private, semi-government and government institutions be made responsible for the safety of women during duty hours and that proper arrangements be made for police patrols during the opening and closing hours of educational institutions.
On this occasion, an incident with a girl in a private hospital was mentioned and strict action was demanded. On this occasion, a memorandum was handed over to Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mr. Rajiv Verma by a delegation of Upkar Society in his office. The memorandum also demanded the participation of the society in the meetings to be held by the district administration to prevent two social evils "female foeticide and the evil of drugs".
On this occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioner said that the administration keeps a close watch on the activities of anti-social elements but it is not possible to provide security to every citizen, therefore, there is a need to make the women class especially aware of the anti-social elements for self-protection training. He assured to ensure the participation of the society in the meetings to be held for the prevention of social evils.
