Ensure drainage arrangements are rectified before the rainy season speed up cleaning work Lakshit Sarin

Hansi: A crucial meeting was organized at the local District Secretariat complex to review the arrangements being made regarding the drainage of rainwater in the city. Held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Lakshit Sarin, the meeting was attended by officials from the Public Health Engineering Department, Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP), Municipal Council, and other concerned departments.
During the meeting, the ADC conducted a department-wise review of the drainage system and obtained detailed information about the work completed so far. He directed that the cleaning of all storm drains, sewerage lines, and the drainage system in the city must be completed on a war footing before the onset of the rainy season, so that no waterlogging occurs during rains and the drainage of water remains smooth.
The ADC stated that providing relief to the general public from the problem of waterlogging during the monsoon is a priority for the administration. For this, all concerned departments should work in mutual coordination, and special vigil should be kept at locations prone to waterlogging.
In the meeting, Municipal Council officials informed that there are storm drains approximately six and a half kilometers long in the city. The cleaning of most of these drains has already been completed, and only about 800 meters of work remains, which will be completed soon.
Similarly, officials from other departments also presented progress reports related to their respective departments and provided information about the work being done before the rainy season.
ADC Lakshit Sarin mentioned that to ensure effective cleaning of sewerage lines, a 'super sucker' machine will be operated two days every week, helping to improve the sewerage system and prevent any obstacles in drainage.
He instructed the electricity department officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the rains at Sewage Treatment Plants and other important sites related to drainage, so that drainage work is not affected during any emergency.
Officials were instructed in the meeting to complete all their tasks within the stipulated time frame and regularly review the progress so that city residents do not face any trouble during the upcoming rainy season. Executive Engineer of the Public Health Department Sanjeev Tyagi, Municipal Council EO Rajendra Soni, Ashok Dhalia, and officials of the concerned departments were present at the meeting.
