Tahliwal/Haroli, February 7 (Narayan Prabhakar): A sensational murder took place on Saturday morning in Mehindwani Gujran village, adjacent to Gondpur Jaichand in the Haroli assembly constituency. This has created an atmosphere of fear and tension throughout the region. In this village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Garhshankar police station, an unknown assailant on a motorcycle shot and killed an elderly woman. She died on the spot.
According to the information received, 62-year-old Rachna Devi, wife of Shyam Lal, had gone to a religious place for prayers as usual in the morning. As she was returning home after her prayers, an unknown person on a motorcycle opened fire on her indiscriminately. It is reported that the woman was shot three times, resulting in her death at the scene.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the Garhshankar police reached the spot and cordoned off the area to begin their investigation. The police have taken the body into custody and sent it to the Civil Hospital Garhshankar for post-mortem examination. The deceased woman's husband, Shyam Lal, is reportedly a retired employee of the police department.
Following this incident, there is a wave of grief in the family and the village. The villagers have demanded that the administration arrest the culprits soon. In this regard, the in-charge of the Binewal police post, ASI Omkar Singh, said that the police are seriously investigating the matter. Footage from nearby CCTV cameras is being examined, and suspected individuals are being questioned. He assured that the accused would be arrested soon.
