Nangal/Una, July 4 (Rajveer Chopra): An awareness-raising and educational seminar titled ‘Understanding 21st-Century Children’ was organized at SSRVM Senior Secondary School, Naya Nangal. The objective of the seminar was to provide effective guidance to parents and teachers by helping them understand the mindset, behavior, and needs of children in these changing times.
The keynote speakers for the seminar were Ms. Pahul Padam (Department of Soft Skills, LPU) and Mr. Sumer Khullar (Officer, Disha, LPU). The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and a prayer dedicated to Goddess Saraswati.
In their address, the speakers noted that children today are growing up in the digital age, amidst mobile phones and social media. Their way of thinking, learning methods, and attention spans differ significantly from those of previous generations. Consequently, the greatest challenge facing parents and teachers is understanding these children and guiding them in the right direction.
During the seminar, detailed discussions were held on balancing children's screen time, fostering their creative and logical thinking, and the importance of positive communication. The speakers emphasized that children learn better through love, dialogue, and understanding rather than scolding or reprimands. They urged teachers and parents to build trusting relationships with children by acknowledging and respecting their emotions.
At the conclusion of the event, the school's General Manager, Mr. Sumesh Sharma, expressed his gratitude to Ms. Pahul Padam and Mr. Sumer Khullar. He remarked that providing proper guidance to children in these changing times is a paramount responsibility for both teachers and parents, and that everyone must work together to face this challenge positively.
