Garhshankar, July 22:- Various organizations of the city led by the Democratic Teachers Front (DTF) held a protest rally in Gandhi Park against the alleged violence on students and youth demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the paper leak case at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.
Addressing the rally held at Gandhi Park, Mukesh Kumar, Baljit Singh Dharamkot, Joginder Singh Kulewal, Darshan Mattu, Principal Bicker Singh, Inderjit Kaur, Vinay Kumar, Jaswinder Singh, Sandeep Singh Gill and Jarnail Singh said that under the auspices of the Central Government, the Delhi Police forcibly detained social activist Sonam Wangchuk, who was protesting at Jantar Mantar, by police personnel in civilian clothes and admitted her to the hospital. After this, students and youth who were marching towards Parliament demanding the resignation of the Education Minister over the paper leak issue were also allegedly tortured indiscriminately.
The speakers said that these steps taken to suppress the peaceful protest are against democratic values. They alleged that during the Modi government's tenure, many papers of various recruitment and competitive examinations including NEET have been leaked, but instead of taking action against those responsible, students who raised their voices are being targeted.
The leaders alleged that the protesters were lathicharged and tear gas shells were fired. They also said that some of the lathichargers were also present in civilian clothes.
The teacher leaders said that earlier also similar behavior was adopted with the women wrestlers protesting at Jantar Mantar and now an attempt is being made to suppress the voice of the students. They also mentioned the incidents of scuffles with protesting students at Panjab University, Chandigarh and the police force removal of people protesting against the Ken-Betwa project in Madhya Pradesh.
The leaders appealed to the people to stand firm in support of the struggling youth and raise their voices against injustice.
On this occasion, a large number of teachers, social activists and other people including Hans Raj Garhshankar, Kulwinder Singh Sangha, Amrik Singh Panama, Gurmail Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Vinod Kumar, Niranjan Singh Chandpuri, Bhupinder Singh Saroya, Gurnam Singh, Gurmail Singh Kalsi, Rajinder Singh, Iqbal Singh, Rupinder Singh Seemar, Rakesh Kumar, Rajinder Pal, Jaswinder Singh Sekhowal, Pawan Kumar, Satnam Singh Bangar, Khushwinder Kaur, Anita Vishisht, Manjinder Kumar, Mandeep Kumar, Hans Raj, Hem Raj, Ankit Kumar, Inderjit Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Narinder Kaur were present.
