Hansi: A long-standing drinking water issue in Chanaut village of the Hansi region has been resolved through the initiative of Union Minister for Power, Housing & Urban Affairs and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal. Villagers announced the end of their protest after the Union Minister announced the installation of a new four-inch 'T' connection (tapping point) from the main drinking water pipeline to the village and granted departmental approval for the same.
Union Minister Manohar Lal was addressing a press conference following a meeting held at the PWD Rest House in Hansi on Wednesday. Haryana's Public Works (Building & Roads) and Public Health Engineering Minister Ranbir Singh Gangwa, Rajya Sabha MP Subhash Barala, Hansi MLA Vinod Bhayana, DC Rahul Narwal, SP Vinod Kumar, BJP District President Ashok Saini, and Chairman Rajesh Thakral were also present. Public representatives held detailed discussions with the villagers, protest committee members, and departmental officials, listened to all parties, and endeavored to find a solution on the spot.
Union Minister Manohar Lal stated that two significant issues concerning Chanaut village had emerged during the state government's drinking water pipeline project. First, the villagers demanded that water supply be provided to the village from the main drinking water pipeline passing nearby. Second, technical and administrative hurdles had arisen at the site where the pipeline was laid due to the widening and construction work of the National Highway, which had impacted the project.
He added that the government took the villagers' demand seriously and obtained detailed reports from technical experts and departmental officials. The assessment revealed that the main pipeline has sufficient capacity, and providing an additional water supply to Chanaut village would not adversely affect the drinking water arrangements of any other village or area. Consequently, a decision was made to install a four-inch 'T-line' from the main pipeline, and the necessary approval was granted to the concerned department.
The Union Minister clarified that the village's existing drinking water system would continue to operate smoothly without any changes. The new four-inch T-line will serve as an additional and alternative arrangement. Should the demand for water in the village increase in the future, or if the existing system fails to provide adequate supply for any reason, additional water will be made available through the new line. This will strengthen the village's drinking water security and help meet the needs of the growing population in the coming years.
Union Minister Manohar Lal directed officials to promptly complete the formalities related to the National Highway project, resolve any technical hurdles regarding the pipeline work, and initiate the installation of the new T-line on a priority basis. He stated that the state government is committed to providing adequate and clean drinking water to every village and is continuously working to strengthen basic amenities in rural areas.
During the meeting, villagers presented their issues and demands in detail. Representatives of the protest committee noted that the drinking water issue had long been a major concern for the village, and residents had been consistently demanding a resolution. They acknowledged that Union Minister Manohar Lal and other public representatives listened to their concerns seriously and proposed a positive, practical solution.
Representatives of the protest committee and the villagers expressed their gratitude to Union Minister Manohar Lal, Cabinet Minister Ranbir Singh Gangwa, Subhash Barala, and MLA Vinod Bhayana, noting that the government's approval for the four-inch T-line has fulfilled their long-pending demand. They affirmed their full faith in the assurances given by the government and the administration, stating that this trust formed the basis of their decision to call off the protest.
The villagers expressed hope that the concerned department would commence work promptly and complete it within the stipulated timeframe, thereby enabling the village to benefit from the additional water supply. He stated that this government decision would strengthen and secure the drinking water system of Chanaut village, making it future-ready and ensuring a permanent solution to potential water crises.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the villagers unanimously announced the end of their protest and expressed their gratitude to the public representatives.
Officials from various departments, BJP office-bearers, public representatives, members of social organizations, and prominent citizens—including SDM Rajesh Khoth, CTM Himanshu Chauhan, DSP Vinod Shankar Sharma, the Union Minister's Private Secretary Naveen Kaushik, and Udayveer Jhajharia—were present on the occasion.
