Hansi:– DMC and ADC Lakshit Sarin held a meeting with the members of the newly formed ward committees at the Municipal Council office in Hansi to apprise them of their responsibilities. During the meeting, identity cards were also distributed to the ward committee members. Chief Minister's Good Governance Associate Pratiksha Sangwan was also present on this occasion.
Addressing the meeting, Lakshit Sarin stated that ward committees are a vital link between the Municipal Council and the citizens. The purpose of these committees is to identify the problems of the people at the local level, monitor development works, and ensure the participation of citizens. He said that every member should maintain public outreach in their respective wards and report the area's problems to the Municipal Council on a priority basis so that their time-bound resolution can be ensured.
He added that the active role of ward committees will help in improving basic amenities such as sanitation, water supply, sewage, street lights, road repairs, maintenance of parks, and drainage in the city. Along with this, transparency and public participation in development works will also increase.
In the meeting, Chief Minister's Good Governance Associate Pratiksha Sangwan said that the state government is continuously striving to provide better and accountable administration to the citizens. She urged the ward committee members to maintain regular dialogue with the people in their respective areas and play an active role in conveying their problems and suggestions to the administration. She mentioned that based on the feedback received at the local level, schemes and public services can be made more effective.
During this session, officials provided information to the ward committee members regarding their roles, rights, and responsibilities. They were also briefed in detail about the various schemes of the Municipal Council, civic amenities, and the grievance redressal system.
In the meeting, the members also placed various issues and suggestions related to their respective wards before the officials. DMC and ADC Lakshit Sarin assured them that all suggestions would be considered seriously and necessary action would be taken on matters related to public interest.
At the end of the meeting, identity cards were distributed to the members of the newly formed ward committees. The officials expressed confidence that with the active cooperation of the ward committees, the city's development works would gain momentum, and the goal of providing better facilities to the citizens would be fulfilled more effectively.
