Hoshiarpur: A large number of devotees attended the annual Jor Mela of Baba Jakh Sahib held in Bahowal. Chabbewal MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar also participated in this grand religious event and sought blessings by offering prayers at the sacred site. Addressing the devotees and local residents on this occasion, he extended his greetings to everyone on this spiritual festival.
He informed that development works worth more than ?13.5 crore have been completed or are in progress in Bahowal village, which has taken the village's development to new heights. He said that these projects include the construction and upgradation of the road from Bahowal to Baba Jakh Sahib, which is costing ?1.57 crore. He stated that this road will not only prove beneficial for local residents and farmers but will also make travel convenient for the devotees visiting Baba Jakh Sahib.
Dr. Ishank Kumar further mentioned that apart from this project, work is also underway on other road projects worth approximately ?9.32 crore to further strengthen the connectivity system in the area. These include the upgradation of the 10.50 km long Bahowal-Bham road from Hoshiarpur-Mahilpur road via Barian Kalan-Makkhangarh, which is being done at a cost of ?8.03 crore. Additionally, ?1.28 crore is being spent on the improvement of the road from Bahowal to Agriculture Bhawan Barian.
The MLA stated that along with road projects, several important development works have already been completed on the demand of the Bahowal Panchayat. These include the repair of an irrigation tubewell at a cost of ?2.45 crore, construction and improvement of streets and drains worth ?5 lakh, development of a playground for ?5 lakh, sewerage and wastewater drainage works worth ?5 lakh, and a special grant of ?2 lakh for damages caused by floods. He said that these works have brought a major improvement in the basic amenities of the village and the long-standing demands of the people have been met.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ishank Kumar said that better roads, irrigation facilities, sanitation infrastructure, and sports facilities are improving the standard of living of the people of Chabbewal assembly constituency. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, he is ensuring that the light of development reaches every village and the benefit of every public welfare scheme of the government reaches every eligible person. He reiterated that every legitimate demand of the people of the area is being fulfilled on a priority basis and development works will continue at this pace in the future as well.
Bahowal Sarpanch Hardeep Singh thanked Dr. Ishank Kumar and said that the people of Bahowal and surrounding villages are appreciating his development-oriented vision. He expressed confidence that the ongoing road projects will further strengthen the connectivity system of the area and give a new direction to overall development.
