Garhshankar, June 14:- Punjab Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker S. Jai Krishan Singh Raudi presented a big gift to the villagers by inaugurating the development works worth more than half a crore rupees in Roorkee Khas village of Garhshankar constituency. On this occasion, he dedicated the beautification of the pond, sewage system, solar street lights and water coolers installed for clean drinking water to the people.
Addressing the function, Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Singh Raudi said that the Punjab government is fully committed to the all-round development of the villages and is continuously working to equip every village with modern facilities. He said that the development works carried out in Roorkee Khas have changed the face of the village and the people will get direct benefits.
He said that the beautification of the pond will make the environment of the village more beautiful and clean, the sewage system will solve the problem of dirty water, solar lights will illuminate the streets and people will get the facility of cold and clean drinking water through water coolers. He said that all these projects are to fulfill the long-standing demands of the villagers.
Rourdi assured the villagers that more grants will be released in the coming time for the remaining development works of Roorkee Khas, so that the village can be developed as a model village in terms of development.
On this occasion, the village panchayat and the residents of the area thanked Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Singh Rourdi and said that the development works done at a cost of more than half a crore have changed the image and destiny of the village.
On this occasion, Sarpanch Santosh Kumari, Panch Daljit Singh Billa, Balvir Singh, Jyoti, Jaswinder Singh Jassa, Numberdar Karnail Singh, Budh Raj, Mohan Singh, Gurdeep Singh, Rajinder Singh, Panch Jatinder Kumar, Panch Surjit Singh, Panch Barinder Singh, Panch Harjot Kaur, Panch Surinder Kaur, former Sarpanch Manjit Kaur, Gurdeep Kaur, Happy and a large number of villagers were present.
