Nawanshahr:- While reviewing the dams of the Sutlej river in the district, Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh said that the situation is absolutely fine at present and there is no cause for any fear. Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh, who reached Tajewal-Mandala village of Nawanshahr sub-division in the morning and interacted with the villagers, said that the administration is ready to provide all possible help at all times.
He said that Indian Army teams are also continuously monitoring Dhangarpur, Bela Tajowal and Talwandi Shibu dams and are ensuring that the villagers strengthen the dams in a technical manner.
He said that last night, due to the pressure of water on the dam, a slight situation had arisen, which was controlled in time with the full cooperation of the villagers and now the situation is better. He said that senior officers of the district administration have been instructed to constantly monitor the sensitive areas so that any emergency situation can be dealt with in a proper manner.
The Deputy Commissioner, while reviewing the ongoing work on the Talwandi Shibu Dam along with the Indian Army officers and administrative teams in the afternoon, said that the dam collapsed late last night due to the high flow of water, on which the administration and the villagers acted immediately and saved the dam from further collapse. He said that the efforts and support given by the villagers in this difficult time are highly commendable, for which the administration is indebted to everyone.
After carefully listening to the demands made by the villagers for the strengthening of the dam, Deputy Commissioner Ankurjit Singh gave instructions on the spot and made the necessary equipment available. The Deputy Commissioner said that the situation in almost all places in the district, including Bela Tajowal, Tajewal Mandala, Dhangarpur and Talwandi Shibu, is completely under control.
After this, the Deputy Commissioner, along with the officials, also reviewed the condition of the dams at Pandawal, Burj Tehal Das and appealed to the district residents that at present the condition of the dams is absolutely fine, for which they do not need to panic about anything.
