Chandigarh:- Many areas of Punjab and Haryana were gripped by severe cold on Sunday and many parts of both the states were shrouded in dense fog. According to the Meteorological Department, Narnaul in Haryana was the coldest place, where the minimum temperature dropped to 5.2 degrees Celsius.
Gurdaspur in Punjab was the coldest, where the mercury was recorded at 6.8 degrees Celsius. Visibility was very low in the morning due to dense fog. The minimum temperature in Chandigarh, the common capital of both the states, was 8.8 degrees Celsius.
Among other cities in Haryana, Bhiwani recorded 6.5 degrees, Ambala 9.5 degrees, Rohtak 10.8 degrees and Sirsa 10 degrees Celsius. In Punjab, Ludhiana and Bathinda recorded a minimum temperature of 8.6 degrees Celsius, Patiala recorded 9.3 degrees Celsius, Faridkot recorded 10 degrees Celsius and Amritsar recorded a minimum temperature of 11.8 degrees Celsius.
