Patiala: 6 April 2026:— The Literary Festival-2026 organized by the Punjabi Department of Punjabi University Patiala concluded successfully with a musical and literary evening featuring renowned lyricist and singer Debi Makhsuspuri.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Jagdeep Singh of Punjabi University Patiala graced the occasion as a special guest. On this occasion, Dr. Rajwant Kaur Punjabi, Head of the Punjabi Department, said that the age of literary songwriting is immortal. She further stated that Debi Makhsuspuri’s lyricism is imbued with literary colours and carries the sweetness of folk literature.
A large number of students and fans gathered on the occasion and asked Makhsuspuri questions about his life, struggles, songwriting journey and singing career. The singer responded emotionally at times and logically at others.
At the end, Department Head Dr. Rajwant Kaur Punjabi honoured Debi Makhsuspuri.
Present during the musical evening were Dr. Gurmukh Singh, Dr. Gursevak Lambi, Dr. Rajwinder Singh, Dr. Nivedita Uppal, Dr. Rajinderpal Singh Brar, Dr. Surjit Singh Bhatti, Dr. Bhim Inder Singh, Dr. Darshan Singh Asht, Dr. Balwinder Kaur Bhatti, Dr. Charanjit Kaur, Dr. Harvinderpal Kaur, Principal Satvir Singh Gill, Bhagwan Das Gupta, Dr. Jyoti Puri, Dr. Rajmohinder Kaur, Balwinder Singh Bhatti, Dr. Lachhmi Narain Bheekhi, research scholars, students and campus residents.
