Ratia, April 14: As part of an ongoing awareness campaign aimed at curbing rising cyber crimes in the district, a team from the Fatehabad Cyber ??Crime Police Station sensitized the youth regarding cyber security.
Under the able leadership of Woman Assistant Sub-Inspector Sunita, who is posted at the Fatehabad Cyber ??Crime Police Station, the team visited the Ratia area and provided the general public with detailed information regarding cyber crime and the safe use of social media. During the session, the public was informed that in today's digital era, even a minor act of negligence can lead to significant financial loss; therefore, it is absolutely essential to remain vigilant while using the internet.
During the program, the team educated the youth about various cyber crimes such as fraudulent calls, online scams, phishing links, OTP fraud, and social media hacking. Additionally, they were given detailed information about emerging fraudulent methods—such as "Digital Arresting"—in which criminals impersonate police officers or officials from government agencies to intimidate individuals and extort money.
Woman Assistant Sub-Inspector Sunita advised the youth not to share their personal information, bank details, or OTPs in response to any unknown calls or messages. She further instructed them to immediately contact the Cyber ??Helpline number (1930) or their nearest police station should they encounter any suspicious calls or online activity.
Students also participated enthusiastically in the program, posing various questions related to cyber security, all of which were satisfactorily answered by the team.
The Fatehabad Cyber ??Police is continuously organizing such awareness programs with the objective of safeguarding the general public—particularly the youth—from cyber crimes and encouraging them to adopt safe practices within the digital realm.
