Jalandhar:- Jagdish Rana, Office Secretary of Central Punjabi Writers' Association Sekhon, told the media that CPI (M) and Central Punjabi Writers' Association Sekhon (Regd.) under the leadership of Punjab State Committee Secretary Comrade Sukhwinder Singh Sekhon and Central Punjabi Writers' Association Sekhon President Pawan Harchandpuri organized a grand function on the overall contribution of Guru Ji in memory of the 350th martyrdom day of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji at Vishnu Ganesh Pingle Hall, Desh Bhagat Yadgar Hall, Jalandhar.
The function was presided over by CPI (M) State Secretary Comrade Sukhwinder Singh Sekhon and Central Sabha President Pawan Harchandpuri, Dr. Joginder Singh Nirala Sr. Vice President, Prof. Sandhu Varyanvi, Public Secretary and Comrade Bhup Chand Channo, State Secretariat Member of CPI, presided over the meeting. During this, renowned scholar Dr. Arvind, former Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala, was the chief guest.
More than 150 spectators and writers participated in the event and the ideological brainstorming session was started by Dr. Swaraj Singh, a world thinker, with his paper on Guru Ji's great and unique contribution to human rights.
First of all, Comrade Sukhwinder Singh Sekhon welcomed everyone and Pawan Harchandpuri gave information about the outline of the event and presented his views on Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Former President of Sahit Akademi Ludhiana Dr. Lakhwinder Singh Johal presented the pan-religious concept of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji in detail. Former Head of Bhai Veer Singh Chair Dr. Gurnaib Singh Ji presented his views on the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji in the current political context. Dr. Swaraj Singh said in his paper that Guru Ji's martyrdom took place in 1675 AD. At that time, 8 million people died in the war between Catholics and Protestants in the 16th century and a mutual agreement was reached in 1648. He said that Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji had actually played a leading role in the great and unique provision of human rights with his martyrdom. Dr. Lakhwinder Johal elaborated on the concept of respect for all religions of Guru Ji, showing the path of respect, peace and equality and instilled the desire to do the same for others. Dr. Gurnaib Singh, in his paper, presented the martyrdom of Guru Ji in the current political struggle and made a comparative study of the conditions of today and the conditions of that time. He said that the political conditions of today's world and India are in a very bad period.
All religions are running under politics, leaving behind their basic principles. He shared information about the successful works of Guru Ji at the age of 54. Dr. Inderjit Singh Vasu, interpreting the verses of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji's Bani, shed light on the Guru Ji's contribution to the entire humanity. Eminent playwright Sodhi Rana said that the Guru's Sikh should be like the ideas given by Guru Ji and follow the paths shown by him.
Dr. Ram Murthy said that there is a need to make a person a man. These good policies will be formed automatically. Some people alienate people by making a person a god. Master Kulwinder Singh Gakhal, while presenting his views, said that politics has become dominant over religion. Prithipal Singh Marimegha, Public Secretary of Desh Bhagat Yadgar Committee, congratulated CPI (M) and Central Punjabi Writers' Sabha Sekhon for this event. He said that staying connected to cultural roots is essential for revolutionary thinking. Prof. Sandhu Varyanvi said that man has been fighting for his freedom in various ways for the last five thousand years. He said that mutual dialogue, the freedom of others to live should continue. Dr. Aurobindo, while speaking about theology, said that religion is what resides within you. He said that there is only one religion that distinguishes between truth and falsehood. Guru Ji's martyrdom took place under this religion. He said that Guru Ji's words contain both detachment and courage. Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was actually a saint soldier who died fighting for the truth. The left movement's association with Sikhism and other religions is a positive aspect. Comrade Bhup Chand Channo said that while remaining mature in ideas, one should remain connected to the heritage. Comrade Sekhon emphasized on such events to create ideological maturity and thanked the Central Assembly.
Pawan Harchandpuri, while thanking the CPI (M), stressed on the need for ideological thinking to create materiality in Punjab so that the aspirations of the Gurus could be fulfilled. Sahit Kala and Cultural Forum (Regd) Jalandhar, led by Public Secretary Jagdish Rana, included Dr. Arvind, Comrade Sukhwinder Singh Sekhon, Pawan Harchandpuri, Dr. Joginder Singh Nirala, Prof. Sandhu Varyanvi, Comrade Bhup Chand Channo, Dr. Swaraj Singh, Dr. Lakhwinder Singh Johal, Dr. Gurnaib Singh, Comrade Prithipal Singh Marimegha, Dr. Inderjit Singh Vasu, Dr. Ram Murthy and Surinder Sagar.
