Haroli/Una, June 13 (Rajveer Chopra):— Councilors of the Tahliwal Nagar Panchayat have urged the administration to strengthen law and order in response to the rising number of thefts and other criminal incidents in Tahliwal and its surrounding areas. The councilors have called for increased night patrols and the reinstatement of the discontinued traffic wing to effectively curb crime.
Councilors Sanjeev Kumar (Ward No. 1), Niranjana Kumari (Ward No. 2), Dimpal (Ward No. 3), Rajkumar Malli (Ward No. 4), Neelam Devi (Ward No. 5), Ajay Sehgal (Ward No. 6), and Anu Devi (Ward No. 7) issued a joint statement noting that Tahliwal is not only the largest market in the area but also a major industrial hub. Consequently, anti-social elements frequently target local homes, shops, and business establishments.
The councilors stated that regular night-time police patrols would instill fear among anti-social elements and lead to a reduction in thefts and other crimes. They further observed that the closure of the previously operational traffic wing has resulted in a diminished police presence, a situation that criminal elements are exploiting.
They demanded the reactivation of the traffic wing alongside night patrols to ensure a consistent police presence in the area and to further bolster law and order.
The councilors announced plans to meet the Superintendent of Police (SP), Una, regarding this issue soon. They expressed concern that despite the area being a significant market and industrial zone, local residents, shopkeepers, and industrialists remain worried about the security situation. They demanded that the administration immediately resume night patrols in Tahliwal and surrounding areas and quickly reinstate the discontinued traffic wing, so as to strengthen the sense of security among the public and effectively curb criminal activities.
