New Delhi: The central government on Thursday said that it has contacted the protesting students and their leaders four times in the last 24 hours for talks, but has not received any response yet.
Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh, who has been entrusted with the responsibility of holding talks with the leaders of the 'Cockroach Janata Party' by the government along with Health Minister JP Nadda, said that the meeting can be held at Nadda's residence or office.
He appealed to the protesting students to come forward for talks and work towards finding a solution.
Jitendra Singh said, "Through the media, I humbly appeal to the protesting students that the government is ready for talks, wherever they want, at any time of the day and for as long as they want. We are ready to discuss the agitation and the issues related to it with an open mind. The talks can be held at JP Nadda's residence and I will also be with them."
The Union Minister of State said, “In the last 24 hours, the students’ representatives have been offered talks four times. We are still waiting for a response. We are not going to budge. So please come forward so that we can find a way out in the interest of the students, the youth and the country at large.” He said, “The interests of the students are paramount for us, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said this morning. The government will go to any extent to protect the welfare of the students. The Prime Minister has already decided to set up fast-track courts to punish the culprits of the recent paper leak so that final decisions can be taken at the earliest.”
