Chandigarh, June 1:- Haryana Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini said that Yoga is not just a practice, but a celebration of India's great cultural heritage, which has shown humanity the path to a balanced, healthy and spiritual life for thousands of years. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India established Yoga at the global level and today the whole world is adopting it. Yoga is the invaluable gift of our sages, sages and seekers, which is being respected and felicitated at the global level.
The Chief Minister was addressing the yoga enthusiasts present at the inauguration of the state-level yoga practice campaign organized on the occasion of International Yoga Day-2026 at Maharana Pratap Swaran Jayanti Park (Laser Valley) in Sector-29, Gurugram on Monday. Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Pataudi MLA Smt. Bimla Chaudhary, Gurugram MLA Mr. Mukesh Sharma, Nalwa MLA Mr. Ranbir Panihar were present on this occasion.
After lighting the lamp to launch the campaign, the Chief Minister said in his address that Yoga is not a subject related to any religion or sect, but a scientific and spiritual heritage of humanity. The resolution moved by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in the United Nations General Assembly in the year 2014 received the support of a record 177 countries and International Yoga Day was celebrated for the first time on June 21, 2015. Since then, the global spread of Yoga has continuously increased and crores of people have joined it. He said that messages like "Khedega Bharat toh Khirega Bharat" and "Yoga di Dose, Half an Hour Roz" are the need of the hour. By making Yoga a part of daily life, we can live a healthy, energetic and positive life.
The Chief Minister said that the Haryana Government has decided to celebrate the 12th International Yoga Day on a grand and extensive scale this year. Yoga camps will be organized at district, sub-division, block, ward and gram panchayat levels across the state from June 1 to June 21. The state-level main program will be organized in Panchkula on June 21. He said that the theme of International Yoga Day this year is 'Yoga for Healthy Old Age', which is the biggest need of the day. While the modern lifestyle has provided many facilities, problems like stress, sleeplessness, irregular eating and drinking and mental unrest have also increased. In such times, yoga is the most effective means to make the body healthy, the mind stable and life balanced. The Chief Minister said that the theme of the Haryana government is ‘Yoga Yukat, Nasha Mukt Haryana’. The youth of the state will be motivated to adopt a healthy lifestyle through the medium of yoga. He also called upon the youth to adopt yoga in particular and stay away from drugs.
The Chief Minister called upon all the citizens to actively participate in the yoga programs to be organized till June 21 and become partners in the resolution of making Haryana the healthiest, most aware and prosperous state of the country. On this occasion, the Chairman of the Haryana Yoga Commission, Dr. Jaideep Arya, explained the benefits of various yoga activities and made Chief Minister Naib Singh and thousands of yoga seekers do a group yoga practice.
On this occasion, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Arun Kumar Gupta, Divisional Commissioner Ravi Prakash Gupta, CP Shivas Kaviraj, Media Advisor to the Chief Minister Rajiv Jaitley along with various public representatives, administrative officers, yoga trainers and a large number of yoga seekers were present.
