Chandigarh , December 7- Haryana Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini has appealed to scientists to take science out of the lab walls and take its benefits to the last person of the society . When their knowledge increases a farmer's crop , when research cures a patient's disease , when innovation strengthens an entrepreneur , then only science brings prosperity in the true sense.
The Chief Minister was addressing as the Chief Guest on the second day of the four-day 11th India International Science Festival held in Sector 5, Panchkula on Sunday.
Shri Naib Singh Saini inaugurated the Students Science and Technology Village at the function. This village has been dubbed as the new Nalanda of modern India . On this occasion , the Chief Minister also inspected the science exhibition and showed keen interest in the latest technologies in the field of science and innovation.
Youth , students and scientists are the generation of the country that will make India developed.
Shri Naib Singh Saini said that science is not just a career , it is a medium of nation building . Interacting with the youth , students and scientists, he said that they are the young generation of India who will make India developed. He appealed to all scientists, research institutions, industry and start-ups to come together and create a science-based development model that will provide quality life to every citizen , provide global leadership to India and ensure a sustainable future on this earth by protecting the environment.
It is a matter of pride for Haryana to host the Science Festival for the second time.
Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini said that he expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh for giving Haryana the opportunity to host such a big science festival for the second time . He said that more than 40 thousand participants from home and abroad are participating in this 4-day Science Mahakumbh . The Chief Minister said that he is happy that in this program, special focus has been given to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and North and West states , so that every region of the country can walk together on the path of scientific progress .
This Science Festival is also a concrete step towards realizing the Prime Minister 's vision of a developed nation.
Describing the Science Festival, Shri Naib Singh Saini said that this festival is a confluence of science , innovation , start-up energy , future technology and dreams of a new India . He said that the theme of this Science Festival is Prosperity through Science for a self-reliant India . The Prime Minister of the country, Shri Narendra Modi , has resolved to make India a developed nation by the year 2047. Under his leadership, India is moving forward with a unique pace in the field of science and technology . India has joined the leading countries in the field of communication , from quantum technology to deep-tech , AI , drones and biotechnology, studying the moon, sun and space on its own. This Science Festival is also a concrete step towards realizing the Prime Minister's concept of a developed nation . He said that today science is the basis of policy making and new technology is the engine of development . Another objective of this festival is to showcase India's scientific excellence on the world stage under the leadership of the Prime Minister.
The government is giving priority to STEM education , AI robotics , startup education , cybersecurity , agritech , biotech and space technology in its policies.
Mr. Naib Singh Saini said that Haryana, being an agriculture-based state, is rapidly emerging as a hub of science, education and innovation . Cities like Gurgaon , Hisar and Rohtak are becoming major centers of agricultural technology and climate services .

The Vigyan Pratibha Khoj Scholarship Scheme is being run to create interest in science among students in schools . Under this, a scholarship of Rs. 1,000 per month is given to 1500 students studying science in class 11th and 12th. Students of graduate class are given a scholarship of Rs. 4,000 and students of post graduate level are given a scholarship of Rs . 6,000 per month . Apart from this , a plan is also being run to honor students who win medals and participate in the International Science Olympiad . They are given cash prizes of up to Rs. 5 lakh . Similarly , gold medal winners of Junior Science Olympiad are also given city prizes of up to Rs. 2,50,000 .

The Chief Minister said that the Haryana government is also encouraging young scientists . For this, two renowned scientists above the age of 40 are honored with the Haryana Vigyan Ratna Award every year . Renowned scientists of the state below the age of 40 are also given the Haryana Naujawan Vigyan Ratna Award every year .
