Karnal, January 27: The CIA Asandh unit of the Karnal District Police has achieved a significant success in effectively curbing transformer theft incidents. A police team formed under the leadership of CIA Asandh In-charge Sub-Inspector Sulinder Singh, and led by Sub-Inspector Dalsher Singh, arrested two accused involved in stealing transformers from fields.
The arrested accused have been identified as Silinder Pal alias Bhullar son of Sunehar Singh Pal, a resident of Amin village, Kurukshetra district, and Gurudev alias Rangu son of Hariram, a resident of Dera Sirsama village, Pipli, Kurukshetra district.
The police recovered a motorcycle used in the crime and tools used to dismantle the transformers from the possession of the accused.
Giving information in this regard, the investigating officer stated that according to the complaint filed by the complainant Shamsher Singh son of Jai Singh, on the night of December 12, 2025, he was going towards his field when he saw two unknown persons stealing a transformer from the field. When the complainant called his acquaintances, the accused took advantage of the situation and fled.
Based on the said complaint, FIR No. 388/2025 was registered at Butana Police Station under the relevant sections.
The investigating unit took swift and thorough action and apprehended both the accused involved in the incident. During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had also committed other transformer theft incidents in various areas of Karnal district. 10 sacks of stolen cable and copper were also recovered at the instance of the accused.
Both the accused were produced before the Honorable Court today and sent to judicial custody in the district jail.
