SAS Nagar, October 11 - Mohali police have registered a case on charges of extorting Rs 2 lakh 60 thousand from a person on the pretext of sending him to Azerbaijan and not sending him abroad, the victim demanded his money back and locked him in the office and beat him up.
Periwinkle Grewal, SHO of Phase-11 police station, said that in this regard, Anil Sachdeva, resident of Sector 6, Bahadurgarh (Haryana), has said in his complaint to the police that he had seen the advertisement of immigration company Future Square Immigration, Office No. 1107, 11th Floor, CP 67 Mall, Mohali on social media. He said that he wanted to send his wife Ritu abroad for which he contacted the said office, where he met Himashu and Mamta who described themselves as the owners of the said immigration company.
He said that according to the complainant, they demanded Rs 12 lakh to send his wife and him abroad. On which he made the first payment of Rs 20 thousand on March 12, 2024. After that, on different dates, they paid Rs 60 thousand online and Rs 2 lakh in cash.
He said that according to the complainant, on June 3, he went to the said office to demand his money. Himashu and Mamta along with their two unknown associates beat him up. When he tried to escape from them, they all surrounded him and beat him up further and he barely escaped with his life and then he was admitted to the Government Hospital Sector 32, Chandigarh.
In this regard, the police have registered a case under Section 24 of the Immigration Act and Sections 115(2), 126(2), 318(4), 316(2) of the BNS. The police is investigating the matter.
