Karnal, January 5: A case of a woman's death under suspicious circumstances has emerged from Yamunanagar district of Haryana, which has shaken not only two families but the entire society. The body of the woman, a resident of Karnal, was found hanging in the bathroom of her in-laws' house, but her family has refused to accept it as suicide and has alleged murder.
On Sunday, Vanshika's body was found hanging in the bathroom at the residence of Dr. Arun Goyal in Gulab Nagar. The in-laws claimed it was a suicide, while her family, who arrived from Karnal after being informed, alleged that she had been murdered by strangulation. Following this, the police registered an FIR late at night.
On Monday, a post-mortem was conducted by a panel of doctors at Jagadhri Civil Hospital. A large number of family members were present at the scene, and police force was deployed to handle any tense situation. The family refused to take the body until the accused were arrested.

**Allegations of name change and identity erasure**
The deceased's father, Ashok Jain, said that his daughter's original name was Ritu Jain. In 2006, she was married to Karan Goyal, son of Dr. Arun Goyal. After the marriage, her in-laws changed her name to Vanshika Goyal, erasing her Jain identity. Ashok Jain says that he had felt from the beginning that his daughter had been married into the wrong family.

**Allegations of long-term harassment**
According to the family, Vanshika had been subjected to mental and physical torture for many years. She silently endured everything for a long time. About three years ago, she had shared her suffering with her family. In their last conversation three days ago, she had also mentioned being constantly harassed by her in-laws.

**Allegations of murder disguised as suicide**
On Sunday afternoon, around 1 pm, Vanshika's husband, Karan Goyal, called her family and informed them of the suicide. When the family reached the hospital, they noticed unusual marks on Vanshika's neck. Ashok Jain alleged that the victim was first strangled and then the body was hanged. Police say the actual cause of death will only be revealed after the post-mortem report. The investigation is currently underway.
