Chandigarh, 21 August 2026:- On the occasion of World Brotherhood Day, a blood donation camp was successfully organized by Brahma Kumaris, Seva Kendra Gyan Jyoti located at Sector 48-C, Chandigarh at Border Road Organization (B.R.O.), Sector 48-C, Chandigarh. In the camp, people donated blood voluntarily with enthusiasm and a total of 39 units of blood was collected, which will prove to be life-saving for needy patients.
The camp was inaugurated by Shri Rajiv Sharma (Additional Director General), Dr. Pranita Sharma; Colonel Vikas Goyal, (Commanding Officer), Captain Umer Khan (Medical Officer) and from Brahma Kumaris side by B.K. Poonam Didi (Centre In-charge), B.K. Chandrakala Didi, B.K. Komal Behen, B.K. Neha Behen and B.K. Monika Behen by lighting the lamp. On this occasion, the guests and Brahma Kumari sisters threw light on the importance of blood donation and inspired people to donate blood regularly.
B.K. Chandrakala Didi said that blood donation is true service to humanity. For patients struggling with accidents, operations and serious illnesses, blood donors actually play the role of life-givers. She said that blood donation is not limited to saving the life of one person, but it also strengthens the spirit of cooperation, compassion, brotherhood and universal brotherhood in society.
**Also made aware about organ donation**
Along with the blood donation camp, a team of doctors from P.G.I. (PGI) Hospital also specially made people aware about the importance of organ donation. The doctors explained that after death, by donating various useful organs of the body, many needy patients can be given a new life. They inspired people to develop positive thinking towards organ donation and to come forward for this great service. This initiative created awareness and enthusiasm about organ donation among the blood donors and other people present in the camp.
During the camp, four blood donation tables were set up for the convenience and smooth arrangement of blood donors. A team of doctors and paramedical staff from Blood Bank, Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, Chandigarh conducted necessary health check-ups of the blood donors and provided them proper medical guidance and support throughout the process.
Nutritious snacks were arranged for all blood donors by Brahma Kumaris. After blood donation, each blood donor was honoured by giving divine gift and certificate. Along with this, people coming to the camp were also introduced to Rajyoga meditation and spiritual life values by Brahma Kumaris.
Volunteers of Brahma Kumaris played an important role in the success of the camp. They provided active cooperation in registration, arrangements, guidance of blood donors and other necessary services.
At the end of the programme, Centre In-charge B.K. Chandrakala Didi expressed heartfelt gratitude to all blood donors, medical team, volunteers, collaborators and all those who contributed to making the event successful. She said that such service programmes are an effective medium to ensure availability of blood in society as well as to strengthen the spirit of humanity, compassion, service and universal brotherhood.
