Ambala, May 31:- The dispute that started over the construction of a bus queue shelter outside the Ravidas temple in Brahman Majra village has taken a serious turn. Two subsequent incidents of bathing buffaloes at public water coolers and setting fire to the huts have added fuel to the fire. A heavy police force was deployed as a precaution on Saturday, keeping in mind the tension in the village. After the clash, both the parties filed complaints at Mahesh Nagar police station and demanded action.
That evening, a panchayat was also held in the presence of DSP Hitesh and Ambala City DSP Jagbir, in which three members of each party including the sarpanch and the panch were present. An agreement was reportedly reached between the two parties and a formal consent form was also signed by both parties stating that they would not carry out any construction or alteration till further orders from the administration.
Both parties would maintain peace till the site was inspected by the authorities. Both parties had filed complaints accusing each other of fighting. One party, which included Bhim Army state president Kamal Kumar, marched on foot from the Cantonment Civil Hospital to Mahesh Nagar police station to protest the attack, demanding action against the culprits.
A large crowd also gathered outside the police station. Addressing the crowd, Kamal Kumar alleged that people with alleged casteist mindset in Brahmin Majra village entered our settlement yesterday and beat up our women and tore their clothes. One woman has 14 stitches on her head and another has 10 stitches, while the third has sustained minor injuries.
Sarva Samaj has jointly filed a complaint with the police administration SHO Mahesh Nagar and demanded that a case be registered against the accused and they be arrested soon. They questioned whether the police administration is only there to protect the accused and not to protect the people who were beaten up?
They said that if anyone from the other party had been injured, we would have been thrown in jail. They warned that the police administration should keep in mind that if a case is not registered, people will take their lives from Ambala to Brahmin Majra, you will see what has happened.
It is worth mentioning that Bhim Army state president Kamal Kumar has also addressed the Brahmin Majra conflict live on his Facebook page today.
DSP Ambala Cantt Hitesh says that both the parties have been advised to maintain peace in this matter.
