Hoshiarpur: Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain said that becoming a voter is essential to being a part of democracy, and voters play a crucial role in building a strong democracy. She was addressing the district-level function of National Voters' Day as the chief guest at the District Administrative Complex in Hoshiarpur on Sunday. ??Commissioner Municipal Corporation Jyoti Bala Mattu was also present on the occasion. The Deputy Commissioner said that in today's program, school and college students presented cultural programs, poems, and plays highlighting India's strong democracy and the importance of voting. She extended her best wishes to the district residents on National Voters' Day and urged them to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming elections. She said that India is the world's largest democratic country, and the role of voters has been crucial in making it successful. She said that young voters should not only cast their votes but also inspire others to vote because the right to vote is a very important right. She said that everyone's participation in the festival of democracy is very important, and we should exercise our right to vote based on our conscience without any inducement.
The Deputy Commissioner congratulated all the officers and employees involved in the election process, saying that they are engaged in the work of voter registration throughout the year and conduct the elections with complete dedication when they arrive. On this occasion, she distributed voter ID cards to new voters and honored young voters. Earlier, she also administered the oath to the officers present on the occasion of National Voters' Day.
Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain honored SDM-cum-Election Registration Officer 43-Hoshiarpur Gursimranjit Kaur as the best ERO, Bhupinder Singh as the best BLO (Booth Level Officer) 43-Hoshiarpur, and Ankur Sharma as the best Nodal Officer and District Resource Coordinator, and Nodal Officer for SVEEP. In addition, appreciation awards were given to Government College Hoshiarpur and DAV College Hoshiarpur. During this event, a street play on voter awareness was also performed.
