Amb, June 3: — With the objective of ensuring a successful, effective, and public-participation-driven observance of International Yoga Day (IDY) 2026, a significant meeting was organized by the Sub-Divisional Ayush Department, Amb, at the Ayush Health Center, Bhanjal. During the meeting, in addition to preparations for International Yoga Day, various schemes and activities of the Ayush Department were also reviewed. The meeting was presided over by the Sub-Divisional Ayush Medical Officer, Amb, Dr. Rajesh Sharma.
All Ayurvedic Medical Officers from the Amb and Gagret sub-divisions participated in the meeting. On this occasion, while issuing detailed guidelines regarding the organization of International Yoga Day 2026, Dr. Rajesh Sharma instructed the officials to accelerate the widespread promotion of yoga and public awareness activities within their respective areas.
He stated that prior to International Yoga Day, the regular organization of pre-IDY activities and 'Yoga Y-Break' sessions must be ensured at various government and non-government offices, educational institutions, Panchayat-level bodies, and community centers, so that every section of society can be made aware of the importance of yoga and its associated health benefits.
During the proceedings, a detailed review was also conducted regarding the preparations for the main International Yoga Day ceremony scheduled for June 21. To ensure the successful execution of the program, responsibilities were assigned to various officials, and instructions were issued to launch a comprehensive public awareness campaign aimed at transforming yoga into a mass movement. Furthermore, emphasis was placed on ensuring maximum participation from local public representatives, voluntary organizations, women's groups (Mahila Mandals), youth organizations, and the general citizenry.
Dr. Rajesh Sharma remarked that yoga is India's ancient and invaluable heritage, serving as a powerful medium for adopting a healthy lifestyle. The regular practice of yoga not only strengthens physical health but also contributes significantly to mental balance, positive thinking, and spiritual growth. He called upon all officials to celebrate International Yoga Day 2026 as a true 'festival of the masses,' transforming it into a widespread public movement. On this occasion, detailed discussions were held regarding the Panchakarma services operational in AYUSH institutions, the conservation and development of medicinal (herbal) gardens, and departmental collaboration and patient referral activities under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP).
The Sub-Divisional AYUSH Medical Officer directed all Ayurvedic Medical Officers to make Panchakarma services more effective and beneficial to the public, to ensure the regular maintenance and enrichment of medicinal gardens, and to play an active role in the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme by further strengthening the identification, counseling, and referral activities for tuberculosis patients.
