Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 24 March: On the occasion of World TB Day today, awareness events were organised in various government health institutions of the district. Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain and TB Nodal Officer Dr. Navdeep Singh informed that health workers gave people information about the causes, symptoms, prevention and treatment of tuberculosis disease. They said that people’s cooperation is very necessary for the complete eradication of tuberculosis disease. 
They appealed to people that if there is any person with TB symptoms in their home, neighbourhood or relatives, then immediately bring him to a government health institution and get him examined. They said that definite treatment for TB is available and there is no need to panic if this disease occurs. 
In every government health institution, its completely free treatment is provided through the DOTS system. The Civil Surgeon said that when the immunity to fight diseases in our body ends, then the possibility of contracting a deadly disease like TB arises. This disease can happen to a person of any age at any time.
The officials informed that cough for more than two weeks, weight loss, reduced appetite, blood in sputum, fever in the evening, feeling tired, repeated sweating can be signs and symptoms of TB. On this occasion, students of nursing colleges made attractive rangoli and posters related to TB. The students also performed a street play.
