Chandigarh, March 13:- The Avtar Jandialvi Memorial Awards, instituted in memory of Avtar Jandialvi, the founding editor of the prominent Punjabi literary magazine “Hun”, will this year be presented to renowned playwright Dr. Sahib Singh and short story writer Deep Devinder Singh.
This announcement was made in a joint press statement issued by Sushil Dusaajh (Editor-in-Chief), Ravinder Sehraa (Managing Editor) and editors Surinder Sohal, Kirtmeet, and Kamal Dusaajh of the magazine.
The awards will be presented during a memorial event organized on Sunday, March 22, at Baba Sohan Singh Bhakna Auditorium, Desh Sewak Newspaper, Sector 29-B, Chandigarh.
The program will begin at 10:00 AM with tea and informal conversations, while the formal session will start at 11:00 AM with the opening remarks. On this occasion, renowned writer Waryam Singh Sandhu will deliver the keynote address titled “Timtimaunde Akhar in Burning Times”.
During the event, the new play “Tu Agla Varka Phol” written by Dr. Sahib Singh will also be staged. The play has been written and directed by Dr. Sahib Singh himself.
Several prominent writers and theatre personalities will be specially present on the occasion. Among those expected to attend are Dr. Atamjit, Dr. Deepak Manmohan Singh, Davinder Daman, Jaswant Daman, Darshan Buttar, Sukhwinder Amrit, Surinder Gill, Lakhwinder Johal, Dr. Shinderpal Singh, Balwinder Sandhu, Harjit Singh Gill (Canada), Gurbhej Singh Guraya, Makhan Singh Kuhar, Gopal Buttar, S. Naseem, Daljit Singh Shahi, Dr. Swairaj Sandhu, Jaininder Chauhan, Prateek Sahdev, and Gurwinder Kaur Gauri.
Members of the Jandialvi family, including Swarnjit Kaur Johal, Saver Johal, and Prabhat Johal, will also attend the event.
After the program, at 2:00 PM, a special session titled “Naale Khana – Naale Gallan” (Food and Conversations) will be held, during which writers and attendees will engage in informal discussions.
