Karnal, June 26: The Karnal Municipal Corporation has made special arrangements to ensure that the maximum number of citizens can avail themselves of the special property tax rebate offered by the Haryana Government. Saloni Sharma, the newly appointed Municipal Commissioner, stated that keeping citizens' convenience in mind, the counters at the Citizen Facilitation Centre within the Municipal Corporation office will remain open on Saturday and Monday—despite the holidays—so that no citizen misses out on the rebate.
She noted that the property tax rebate offered by the Haryana Government is valid only until June 30. This decision was taken in anticipation of a surge in the number of citizens during the final days, ensuring that taxpayers do not face any inconvenience due to the holidays. Property tax payments will be accepted between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
Appealing to city residents, the Municipal Commissioner urged those who have not yet paid their property tax to do so within the stipulated timeframe and take full advantage of the government's rebate offer. She advised citizens to pay their property tax well in time to avoid last-minute rushes.
She clarified that to avail the property tax rebate, it is mandatory for every property owner to self-certify their Property ID. Without this, the prescribed rebate cannot be claimed. Therefore, citizens should first ensure the self-certification of their Property ID and then proceed to pay the property tax.
She informed that property tax collections at the Municipal Corporation office have reached ?13.62 crore so far. She stated that the revenue generated from property tax is utilized for city infrastructure—such as roads, streetlights, sanitation, beautification, drinking water supply, and park development—as well as for the expansion and maintenance of other civic amenities. Consequently, it is the responsibility of every citizen to pay their property tax on time and contribute to the Municipal Corporation's development initiatives.
