Ambala, June 24:- Based on information given by the accused arrested on June 19, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) team of Ambala Police has raided Delhi and arrested a Nigerian origin accused who was smuggling drugs after coming to India on a study visa. Synthetic drugs worth about Rs 30 lakh have been recovered from the accused and the drug smuggling chain has been busted.
A team led by Inspector Rishipal of the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Ambala Police under the leadership of IGP Ambala Division Pankaj Nain and SP Ambala, Ajit Singh Shekhawat, arrested a foreign (Nigerian) drug smuggler from Delhi using technical resources under the special anti-drug operation, 'Operation Maidan 2.0' and based on his information, recovered 294 grams of banned synthetic drug MDMA, commonly known as "party drug", from his rented house in Delhi.
Sharing the details of the case during a press conference today, DSP Ambala Jagbir Malik said that on June 19, 2026, during patrolling and checking, the Ambala ANC team arrested two drug smugglers - Surinder (resident of Kurukshetra) and his female companion - red-handed with 55 grams of heroin while they were coming to Ambala from Delhi on a motorcycle. A case was registered against both the accused under relevant sections of the NDPS Act at the Padhao police station.
The arrested accused during remand confessed to purchasing the drugs from a Nigerian supplier living in Delhi. Acting swiftly on this information, the ANC in-charge Inspector Rishipal's team laid a trap using technical surveillance and intelligence information and arrested the main supplier in Delhi.
The arrested foreign accused has been identified as Mbacha Ikechukwu David, a resident of Imo State, Nigeria. During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had come to India on a 'study visa' under the guise of which he was running the business of smuggling this illegal drug.
The arrested Nigerian-origin accused was produced before the Honorable Court today and remanded in three-day police remand. DSP Jagbir Malik said that the accused will be questioned rigorously during the remand period so that other drug smugglers, local agents and buyers involved in this entire drug network can be identified. Many more revelations are expected in this case in the coming days.
It is worth mentioning that the recovered drug is considered the lifeblood of rave parties and is also colloquially known as "party drug" or "love drug".
