Chandigarh, March 7:- Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Mr. Anil Vij said that the water drainage system in Ambala Cantt will be improved under the storm water drainage system. The storm water drainage system has already been successfully laid in the Sadar area, which is benefiting the people. Now the drainage pipeline network will be laid in the rest of Ambala Cantt.
The work of laying the storm water pipeline in Ambala Cantt will be completed in two phases. Under the first phase, the work of laying an 89 km long pipeline at a cost of about Rs 58 crore has been approved, while the work of the second phase is likely to be approved soon.
Mr. Vij was reviewing the storm water drainage project in Ambala Cantt along with the officials of the Public Health Department at his residence in Ambala today.
Power Minister Mr. Anil Vij said that in the first phase of the project, storm water pipelines will be laid in BC Bazaar, Lalkurti, Outer Large Road (from Electricity Board Office to SD Vidya School), Tribune Colony, Gobind Nagar, Housing Board Kanouni, Subhash Colony, Kasturba Colony and other colonies at a cost of Rs. 58 crore.
The plan is ready and work will start at the ground level very soon. He said that with the laying of storm water pipelines, unique changes will be seen in the colonies and other places. Open drains will be closed, due to which water drainage will not only be better, but also people will get huge relief from dirt and their lives will become comfortable.
He said that similarly, under the second phase of the project, storm water pipeline will be laid in all the colonies from Maheshnagar on the other side of Jagadhri Road to Defence Colony in the last stretch. He said that the plan has been prepared at the departmental level and it is likely to get approval from the government soon.
