Sunam Udham Singh Wala, September 13:- A new and congenial atmosphere emerged during the protest being held by employee organisations outside the residence of Punjab Cabinet Minister and Aam Aadmi Party Punjab President Aman Arora over their various demands and issues, when Aman Arora himself reached the protest site and directly interacted with the employees.
The most notable aspect on this occasion was that despite the presence of water-cannon vehicles and arrangements for barricading as part of the security measures for the protest, Aman Arora clearly stated, “There will be no barricading and the water-cannon vehicle will not be used. They are all my brothers. I will sit with them myself, talk to them and try to resolve the issue.”
The minister’s approach also generated a positive sentiment among the employees present at the protest site. Aman Arora listened carefully to the demands and problems of the employees sitting at the protest and said that the genuine issues raised by them would be considered with full seriousness at the government level.
After this, a delegation of the employee organisations went inside for a detailed discussion with Aman Arora. During the meeting, various issues concerning the employees were discussed in detail. The atmosphere of the talks remained cordial and constructive, and both sides emphasised resolving the issues through dialogue and mutual cooperation.
After the meeting, the employee organisations called off the protest. The employee leaders viewed Minister Aman Arora’s initiative of personally reaching the protest site, holding discussions and listening to their demands as a positive step.
The police personnel present on the occasion also appreciated the minister’s approach. Some persons associated with the police said that the minister coming forward himself to engage with the protesters was a good initiative, which helped manage the situation amicably and avoided the possibility of any kind of tension.
The general public present at the protest site also described Aman Arora’s initiative as commendable and said that the practice of resolving public issues through dialogue instead of confrontation could help make the political and social atmosphere more cordial.
People said that a minister not viewing the employees sitting at the protest as an opposing side, but calling them “his brothers”, personally going to them and sitting down to listen to their issue was a good example of direct dialogue in a democracy. They said that such an initiative could also promote mutual respect and a cordial atmosphere in the political sphere.
During this period, Aman Arora also arranged a cold drinking water stall and a tea langar for the employees sitting at the protest. This initiative further strengthened the spirit of mutual respect, goodwill and brotherhood during the protest.
Aman Arora said that in a democracy, every citizen and employee has the right to convey their views to the government and administration. He said that every issue can be resolved through dialogue, cooperation and mutual trust. Employees are an important part of the Punjab Government and the administrative system of the state, and issues related to them will be considered seriously.
Aman Arora’s initiative of personally reaching the protest site and talking with the employees, giving priority to dialogue instead of barricading and water cannons, and subsequently holding a detailed meeting with the delegation is being viewed as an important step towards resolving issues through dialogue and strengthening political harmony.
