Karnal, April 17- ADC Dr. Rahul Raiya stated that on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya on April 19, a large number of marriages are organized. All concerned officials must ensure that, under no circumstances, does any child marriage take place within the district. According to the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, conducting a child marriage is a legally punishable offense. In this regard, awareness campaigns should be conducted at the village, ward, and block levels. Additionally, the concerned SDMs and DSPs must ensure that field visits are undertaken. If members of the general public receive any information regarding a child marriage, they should inform the district administration.
ADC Dr. Rahul Raiya was issuing directives to concerned officials regarding Akshaya Tritiya during a meeting held at his office on Friday. He emphasized that if a girl is married before the age of 18, or a boy before the age of 21, it constitutes a legally punishable offense. He directed officials from the District Child Protection Unit to coordinate with social and religious organizations that organize mass marriages, instructing them to ensure that the administration's office is duly informed before organizing such mass marriage ceremonies.
The ADC directed concerned officials to remain vigilant regarding Akshaya Tritiya and to organize awareness programs. He also appealed to the public that if they receive information regarding a child marriage taking place anywhere in the district, they should report it by calling the numbers 1098, 112, 181, 70150-06490, or 94661-25250. The identity of the informant will be kept confidential. 
The meeting was attended by CWC Chairman Chandraprakash, Women Protection and Child Marriage Prohibition Officer Savita Rana, CDPO Anita, DCPO Reena Rani, HR Manager Preeti Bansal from MDD of India, along with other officials and staff members.
