Nawanshahr:- Under the patronage of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana and ICAR-ATARI, Zone-1, Ludhiana, a training camp on the subject of 'Balanced Use of Fertilizers' was organized for input dealers on 21 May 2026 by PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Langroya, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
The main objective of this program was to provide information to input dealers regarding improving soil health and crop yield through the balanced use of fertilizers and Integrated Nutrient Management (INM).
Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Associate Director (Training), KVK Langroya, explained how using fertilizers based on soil testing helps maintain soil fertility over the long term, prevent nutrient imbalance, reduce costs for farmers, and achieve sustainable yields. He detailed the correct quantity, timing, and methods of fertilizer application for various crop cycles.
Dr. Jaswinder Kumar, Assistant Professor (Agronomy), shed light on the benefits of green manuring and incorporating crop residue into the fields to increase organic matter in the fields, and improve soil structure and water-holding capacity. During the program, Dr. Baljit Singh, Assistant Professor (Entomology), delivered a lecture on the identification of dwarfing disease in paddy, its spread, and measures to control the insects (vectors) that transmit it.
