Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, September 11:- MLA Kulwant Singh said that additional required assistance would be sought from Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to meet the requirements of the Autism Centre and that there would be no shortage of funds for the centre.
MLA Kulwant Singh was speaking to journalists during a press conference at the Autism Centre in Sector-79 today along with a team of doctors. He said that the centre is a unique initiative of its kind in the country, where necessary treatment and therapy services are being provided to children affected by autism.
He said that six rooms each have been prepared for boys and girls at the centre. In addition, a plan is being prepared to provide accommodation facilities at the centre for the parents of the children in the future.
The MLA said that the medical profession is a profession of service and doctors play an important role in giving patients a new lease of life. He said that Dr. Parminder Singh, Dr. Nidhi Malhotra, Dr. Chhaya Prashad, Dr. Harvinder Pal Singh Cheema and other medical staff are rendering services with personal interest to ensure the smooth functioning of the centre.
Thanking the team of doctors and social service organisations, he said that everyone has worked together as a mission to run the centre smoothly. He said that treatment and therapy services have so far been provided to 240 children through the centre. He said that more than 3,000 therapy sessions have been conducted here so far and around 25 to 30 families are visiting the centre every day.
MLA Kulwant Singh prayed to God that the children undergoing treatment at the centre recover at the earliest and that the team of doctors be blessed with strength and courage to serve and treat them.
He said that his company, Janta Land Promoters Private Limited, has already provided financial assistance of Rs. 1 crore for the centre. He reiterated that every possible effort would be made to bring the required financial assistance from the Punjab Government to meet the centre's further requirements.
On the occasion, Dr. Parminder Singh, SMO; Dr. Navdeep Saini, Principal, Medical College; Dr. Nidhi Malhotra, Head Psychiatrist and In-charge, Autism Centre; Dr. Chhaya Prashad, Senior Paediatrician; Deputy Mayor of Mohali Municipal Corporation Harpal Singh Channa; Randeep Singh; and Harmesh Singh Kumbra were also present.
