Complainant Sanjeev Talwar has alleged that Rajeshwar Dayal (son of Kumbhakaran Das, resident of Krishna Nagar) has misled the Election Commission and given false information and has got two fake votes cast. According to the list released by the Election Commission for the 2026 Municipal Corporation elections, Rajeshwar Dayal has two votes registered in Ward No. 34:
Ward No. 34, Booth No. 91, Serial No. 944 (Epic No.: REW1495191), House No. 156.
Ward No. 34, Booth No. 92, Serial No. 194 (Epic No.: REW1020866), House No. 156.
Similarly, during the 2024 elections, the said person had two votes (series number 18 and series number 756) registered in booth number 14 of the then ward number 6 (now ward number 34).
The delegation has clarified in the complaint that Rajeshwar Dayal has deliberately given a false affidavit to the Election Commission to gain undue advantage in the elections, which is a direct violation of the Punjab Election Rules 1994 and an abuse of constitutional rights. The Shiromani Akali Dal has demanded from the Chief Electoral Officer that on the basis of these facts, a case should be registered against Rajeshwar Dayal by taking immediate legal action and his eligibility to contest from ward number 34 should be immediately cancelled.
