Karnal, November 25: Amidst the wedding celebrations in Karnal, chaos erupted when a gang of armed robbers entered a house in broad daylight, held the family hostage, and fled with a robbery worth lakhs. Within hours of the incident, Haryana Police, with excellent coordination and swift action, apprehended all five accused and solved the case.
A panic erupted in Haryana's Karnal district on Monday afternoon when five criminals attacked a family busy with wedding preparations. The robbers held the family captive in a room at gunpoint for approximately 45 minutes.
During this time, the women were stripped of their jewelry, and cash and wedding jewelry were also taken. The groom was shot when he resisted the robbery. After committing the crime, the accused fled in a car, but while crossing Karnal, they abandoned the car and boarded a Haryana Roadways bus headed for Chandigarh. Meanwhile, Karnal police located the accused within just three hours.
The CIA and local police then laid a trap near Palm Resort in the Derabassi-Zirakpur area. As soon as the suspicious bus stopped, police teams immediately boarded the bus and apprehended the five robbers. During the search, a pistol and other items related to the robbery were recovered. The arrested accused have been identified as Rajiv alias Raja, Deepak alias Harry, Prince Kumar, Amritpal, and Abhishek, all residents of Ludhiana.
A case has been registered against them at the Civil Lines Police Station, Karnal, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including sections 310(2), 311, 109, 333, 135, and the Arms Act. The police are now investigating the background of the entire gang and their involvement in other crimes.
