Ambala, February 22:- A 52-year-old man died after being run over by a bus near Sultanpur Cut on the Ambala-Chandigarh road. He was returning home from Dappar after attending a wedding when his motorcycle ran out of fuel. While he was crossing the road on foot, a Volvo bus hit him. He died on the spot. The deceased was identified as Surinder, a resident of village Mangalai. The police have registered a case against the unknown driver of the Volvo bus on the statement of the deceased's son and started investigation.
Rahul, son of the deceased Surinder, said that his father had gone to attend a wedding in Togapur village near Dappad on February 20. On Saturday, February 21, at around 8:15 pm, his father called his daughter Payal on the phone and told her that the petrol in the bike had run out and that he would reach home in a while. After that, her father's phone went off.
Investigating officer Sub Inspector Rakesh said that the postmortem has been done at the Civil Hospital Ambala city and the body has been handed over to the heirs and the Volvo bus is being identified with the help of CCTV cameras installed on the road.
