Una, December 3: The Language and Culture Department regularly celebrates the birth anniversaries of prominent writers in the state, so that society and future generations can remember and emulate their work as guiding light for society. In this series, the Language and Culture Department organized the birth anniversary of renowned revolutionary writer Yashpal on Wednesday at the Lata Mangeshkar Kala Kendra in Una district.
The program was inaugurated by lighting a lamp by Deputy Commissioner, Una, Mr. Jatin Lal. In the first session, a documentary film on Yashpal's life was screened. Afterward, Professor Hitendra Patel, Head of the History Department at Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, presented a research paper on "Yashpal's Political Vision." Dr. Hemraj Kaushik and Dr. OP Sharma discussed his research paper.
IIT Director Prof. Manish Gaur and Yashpal's son, Mr. Anand Yashpal, were present as special guests. Dr. Sushil Kumar Phull, a renowned Himachal Pradesh literary figure, presided over the first session. In the second session, a poetry conference was organized, in which approximately 40 poets, including Mr. Tapesh Kumar, Mr. Vinod Kumar, Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Mrs. Suman Bala, Mr. Trilok Mehra, Mrs. Saroj Parmar, Mr. Ishwar Das Rahi, Mr. Ashok Kalia, Mr. Krishna Chandra Mahadeviya, Mrs. Haripriya, Mrs. Rupeshwari, Mr. Ratnachand Nirjhar, Dr. Premlal Gautam, Dr. Shankar Vashishtha, Dr. Ashok Gautam, Prof. Ranjot Singh, Ojaswini Sachdeva, Dr. Sushil Pundir, Mr. Ashok Gautam, Mr. Ramlal Pathak, Kalpana Rani, Dr. Dev Kala Sharma, Mr. Shanti Kumar Syal, Mr. Deshraj Kamal, Mr. Rampal Sharma, Mr. Jyoti Prakash, Dr. Satyendra Kumar, Mr. Lalchand Thakur, Mr. Kuldeep Sharma, Mr. Jyoti Prakash Sharma, Mr. Deshraj Kamal, Mr. Yogesh Chandra Sood, recited their poems. The second session was chaired by renowned literary figure Dr. Hemraj Kaushik and moderated by Dr. Shankar Lal Vashishtha. Students from the Indian Institute of Information Technology also performed a short play based on the life of Yashpal. The book "Himachal Ki Jaswa - Doon Valley, Una" by senior Una literary figure, Mr. Shanti Kumar Syal, was also released on this occasion.
The department also organized a photo exhibition based on Yashpal's life. The program was moderated by Mrs. Kusum, Deputy Director. Students and teachers from Shiksha Bharti B.Ed. College, Samurkalan, District Institute of Education and Training, and Indian Institute of Information Technology, Una, were present.
In the conclusion, District Language Officer, Mr. Niku Ram Sharma, thanked the Chief Guest, Special Guest, Keynote Speaker, and literary figures from across the state for attending the state-level Yashpal Jayanti celebration. Assistant Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Una, Virendra Sharma, Assistant Director, Suresh Rana, Mohan Thakur, Sunila Thakur, and other dignitaries were present.
