Una, March 12: A one-day training workshop for Red Ribbon Clubs from various colleges and training institutes in the district was held today (Thursday) at the Regional Hospital (RH), Una, under the chairmanship of Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Verma.
During the workshop, the CMO stated that the primary objective of the training workshop was to educate nodal officers and student-teachers about HIV/AIDS prevention, voluntary blood donation, drug de-addiction, and sexual health, and to develop necessary skills. He explained that this initiative aims to foster leadership skills in youth and prepare them to become agents of positive change in society. The CMO also reviewed the activities being undertaken by Red Ribbon Clubs operating in various educational institutions in the district and encouraged them to play an active role in spreading awareness.
In addition, detailed information was provided on measures to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS, the importance of voluntary blood donation, and dispelling the myths surrounding it. He also discussed important topics related to prevention of the growing problem of drug addiction among youth, life skills, and sexual and reproductive health. He also provided information about the 1097 free helpline and NACO/HPSACS social media platforms.
The CMO stated that excellent work is being done to control TB in Una district. This is ensuring timely diagnosis and treatment of TB patients and has also reduced the incidence rate.
**HPV vaccination will be held on March 29, April 5, and 12**
Preparations for the HPV vaccination campaign were reviewed in detail under the chairmanship of Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Verma. During the meeting, he directed all officials to ensure prompt registration of all girls aged 14 to 15 years on the U-WIN portal so that eligible girls can be vaccinated on time during the vaccination days scheduled for March 29, April 5, and April 12.
He informed that under the HPV vaccination campaign, vaccination will be done in 27 health institutions of the district, which will further strengthen the health protection of girls. Also, while emphasizing on early registration of pregnant women and promotion of institutional delivery, he said that currently four antenatal check-ups were done in the district, which will be ensured to be increased to 8 under the Wings Scale Project so that special attention can be given to maternal and child health and nutrition. On this occasion, Medical Superintendent of Regional Hospital Una Dr. Sanjay Mankotia, District AIDS Control Officer Dr. Vishal Thakur, Public Education and Information Officer Gopal Krishna, ICTC Counselor Rita Verma, BCC Coordinator Kanchan Mala and District Coordinator Deepak Chabba, ARTMO Dr. Prashant Verma along with participants from various colleges and educational institutions were present.
