Haroli/Una, March 12 (Rajveer Chopra): A case of fraud has come to light at a Punjab National Bank ATM in the Tahliwal Industrial Area. The fraudsters withdrew ?40,000 from the victim's account.
According to information, Raj Kumar, son of Shri Jwala Ram, had gone to the Punjab National Bank ATM in the Tahliwal Industrial Area to withdraw money. A young man standing nearby engaged him in conversation and replaced his ATM card in a flash. The young man told Raj Kumar that the ATM machine was malfunctioning and that he was going to withdraw money from the SBI ATM next door.
When Raj Kumar left the ATM, the young man had disappeared. He then went to the SBI ATM and told the security guard that he didn't know how to operate the ATM. When the guard inserted the card into the machine, he was told that the card would need to be KYCed.
Raj Kumar said that upon arriving home, he received several messages on his mobile phone informing him of money being withdrawn from his account. When he arrived at the Punjab National Bank in Santokhgarh on Thursday, he discovered that four withdrawals of ?10,000 each had been made from his account, totaling ?40,000.
He stated that he had a total of ?48,000 in his account, of which only ?8,000 remained. During the investigation, it was discovered that the ATM card Raj Kumar had belonged to Arjun Parshottam, a resident of Sahjowal, Punjab. Bank employees even called the person in question to come to the bank, but he did not come.
Following this, Raj Kumar filed a complaint at the Tahliwal police station. The police have registered a case and begun an investigation. Only after the police investigation will it be clear who the real person who withdrew the money is.
