Hisar, March 29:— In observance of the International Day of Older Persons, two grand ceremonies were organized at separate locations in Hisar by Anugraha (Regional Resource and Training Centre, Delhi) and Bhumi Ashram, Hisar. The first event was held at Moksha Old Age Home, while the second took place at Bhumi Ashram. Both programs placed special emphasis on honoring senior citizens, as well as promoting their health, rights, and active aging.
It is through the tireless efforts of Dr. Abha Chaudhary, President of the Anugraha organization, that such programs are being organized on a regular basis. Thanks to her vision and dedication, numerous initiatives are being undertaken for the welfare of the elderly. Meanwhile, Mukesh, the administrator of Bhumi Ashram, also played a pivotal role in ensuring the success of the event.
The program coordinator, Dr. Rahul Deshmukh (Anugraha), stated that this year's global theme is: "Older Persons Championing Human Rights Throughout the World: Our Aspirations, Our Well-being, Our Rights." He remarked, "Our elders are the backbone of society; their experience and blessings provide us with direction." Naturopathy expert Dr. Ashok (an acupressure and acupuncture therapist) offered useful health-related advice to the elderly at both events. He emphasized the adoption of simple measures such as yoga, pranayama, herbal teas, a balanced diet, and light exercise.
Senior citizens—both men and women—along with their family members and representatives from various social organizations, were present at the events. Deepak Singh Chhikara (President, Divya Jyoti Social Welfare Foundation) and Sunny Jaiswal (Member, Anugraha) also made active contributions toward making the programs a success. Also notably present on this occasion at Bhumi Ashram were Dr. Naresh (a physiotherapist serving at the ashram), Jay Ram Das Chawla (a supporter from Sundar Nagar), and retired Tehsildar Wazir Singh.
The entire team at Bhumi Ashram played a significant role in ensuring the success of the programs. At both venues, the elderly participants shared special experiences from their lives. Many senior citizens shared stories of the struggles they faced in their youth, memorable moments spent with their families, and inspiring tales of social service. Amidst these emotional moments, they also conveyed a message to the younger generation regarding the importance of respecting the elderly. During the cultural programs, the seniors expressed their joy by singing classic songs.
In conclusion, Dr. Rahul Deshmukh and Mukesh Kumar, the administrator of Bhoomi Ashram, expressed their heartfelt gratitude to everyone present. Special thanks were also extended to all the associates present on this occasion—including Dr. Naresh, Jai Ram Das Chawla, Wazir Singh, and the entire team at Bhoomi Ashram. Furthermore, a pledge was taken to continue providing unwavering support for the welfare of the elderly in the future.
