Una, January 6:- The state government is continuously striving to empower the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) in the direction of e-mobility. In this regard, the government is taking decisive steps by including 297 new electric buses in the HRTC fleet.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said that the first prototype electric bus in this series has arrived in Solan from Hyderabad. Trials of this e-bus will be conducted on the Solan-Shimla route in the next two days. Subsequently, trials of electric buses will be started in a phased manner on other routes of the state and at various depots of HRTC.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said that the state government is rapidly moving towards strengthening a green and environmentally friendly transport system. The operation of electric buses will not only significantly reduce air pollution but will also reduce dependence on diesel and lower HRTC's operating costs, thereby strengthening the corporation's financial position. This initiative will also help in providing safe, comfortable, modern, and reliable transport facilities to passengers.
He informed that charging infrastructure is also being developed across the state to ensure the smooth operation of electric buses. The Deputy Chief Minister said that these e-buses will play a significant role in establishing Himachal Pradesh as a leading state in the field of clean, green, and sustainable transportation.
