Kaushambi/Uttar Pradesh:- Eleven people were killed after a powerful explosion occurred at a firecracker factory in the Pipri police station area of Kaushambi district on Monday afternoon. District Magistrate Dr. Amit Pal gave this information.
The District Magistrate said that five people who were seriously injured in the incident are undergoing treatment at SRN Hospital in Prayagraj. He said that the rescue operation is still underway and all the injured people rescued during the operation are being provided immediate medical treatment.
He said that since the rescue operation is still underway, the number of deaths and injuries may increase. Officials said that more than 18 people are estimated to have been injured in the incident.
In view of the severity of the explosion, train operations on the Delhi-Howrah line passing near the incident site were stopped for one hour. Considering the seriousness of the incident, Kaushambi District Magistrate Dr. Amit Pal, Police Officer Satyanarayan Prajapati and Prayagraj Range DIG Ajay Mishra reached the spot. NDRF, SDRF, fire department vehicles and personnel from other concerned departments are engaged in relief and rescue operations.
The Ajmer-Sealdah Express, which had reached near the incident site, was sent back from Manouri Railway Station. The Vande Bharat train travelling from Delhi to Banaras was stopped one station before, at Saiyad Sarawan Railway Station. Railway traffic was also affected for nearly an hour.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed condolences to the people who lost their lives in the accident and also announced assistance for the families of the deceased and the injured. The Chief Minister said, "Instructions have also been issued to provide financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of those who died in the accident and Rs 50,000 each to the injured."
